Professional cleaning

Oral health means more than just daily brushing at home. To keep your teeth, gums, and entire oral cavity in balance, professional cleaning at the dentist’s office is essential.

This procedure plays a key role in preventing cavities, gum inflammation, and other dental problems.

Why is professional cleaning essential?

  • It prevents cavities and gum inflammation. Bacterial plaque, if not removed properly, hardens and turns into tartar, promoting the development of cavities and gingivitis.

  • It improves the appearance of your smile. Certain foods, drinks, or smoking can stain your teeth. Professional cleaning restores the natural shine of your enamel.

  • It eliminates unpleasant odors. Thorough cleaning of the teeth and gums significantly reduces halitosis (bad breath).

  • It helps with early detection of dental problems. Regular visits allow the dentist to notice early signs of conditions such as early cavities, lesions, or periodontal problems.

What does professional sanitation involve?

Professional cleaning involves several complementary steps:

  • Ultrasonic scaling – A special device uses ultrasonic vibrations to remove tartar, plaque, and stains from teeth – quickly, efficiently, and without discomfort.
  • Manual scaling – Fine, manually adapted instruments are used for gentle cleaning of hard-to-reach areas.
  • Air-Flow – This modern technique uses a controlled jet of air, water, and fine powder to gently clean the teeth, including subgingivally, removing stains and bacterial biofilm. It is a gentle, comfortable, and effective method for optimal aesthetics and hygiene.
  • Personalized recommendations for oral hygiene at home – At the end of the cleaning process, the dentist will offer you tailored advice and solutions for maintaining the results at home – from correct brushing techniques to products suited to your needs.

How often is professional cleaning recommended?

In general, professional cleaning is recommended every 6 months.

However, the frequency may vary depending on your predisposition to cavities or tartar, the existence of periodontal diseases, or your lifestyle (diet, smoking, oral hygiene).

For some patients, the doctor may recommend more frequent sessions, every 3-4 months.
